I was reading Stevie’s blog Garden Therapy,  and have been blown away by the photos of tulips from the tulip festival and some other beautiful flowers from her garden.  I have seen many photos of tulips before, and have had plenty a bunch in my kitchen – but it never struck me quite as much as these did.  I promptly spoke to Hubby, and we are thinking about working out how to put some in our garden.

As I have been so unwell lately, our garden has been neglected.  I would say it was never really a garden to start with, as the previous owners just covered every surface with tan bark – I think there are a total of 3 trees and a few bushes in our whole place.  We would really like to build a garden, however time and energy have been an issue, as has our lack of design prowess.

Anywho… we decided we will just find some nice spots and put some tulips in anyway – I guess it has to start somewhere hey!  Wish us luck! 😀

Fairy Filigree Bracelet

A fairy came to me in a dream last night.  She took me for a flight through the forest, and we sat in a tree for a chat.  The stars were beautiful, the air was fresh, and I told her I wished I could stay there forever.  She smiled at me and we sat for a while longer before flying home.  When I woke up, I found this bracelet next to my bed, with a note which said “A bit of the forest for you – forever!”

I made this bracelet using a gorgeous Vintaj Natural Brass Filigree Diamond, and wrapped a Freshwater pearl in a beautiful dusty pink colour onto the middle.  The hook and chain are also Vintaj, with more pearls spaced through the bracelet.

I love the look this ended up with 😀

I just wanted to share a quote with you, which I found today… It made me think, and resonated with me…

“Sometime, somewhere you need to take something to be the truth. But if you cling to it too strongly, then even when the truth comes in person and knocks on your door, you will not open it.”

Aargh! Photos!

I REALLY struggle with taking good photos (particularly as I am using a very old standard digital camera- nothing swishy at all!)  I often think they are ok, but when I get them on the screen I find the colour didn’t come out right on any of them!

Well, I came across a blog post by Sonja Marshall-Bone, which is very helpful!  As I tend to use the photos as they come from the camera – here are some tips for working with them once they are done.  Check it out!

While we’re admiring her work… here is the cutest pair of earrings from her Etsy shop

“Leonie” Earrings

I have been meaning to make another pair of these for a year now!  I originally made a pair for my mother-in-law, who gave me the challenge of making her a gold chain bracelet with colour and matching earrings.  This is what I came up with…

The chain is made with 14k gold filled jumprings, connecting 3 rosettes between the bead frames.  She was thrilled with the result, and I have to say I was pretty happy too!  I have wanted to make the set again, but have been sidetracked – but here are the earrings at least :-p

Made with 14k Gold Filled wire and jumprings, Antique Gold bead frames and caps, and Swarovski crystals and pearls in Maroon.  They really are different but elegant at the same time.

These Earrings are now available on my madeit shop.

Small things…

Ok, I admit it… I’m excited by small things!  Our local bead shop is closing down, which is DEVASTATING, however I scored some second-hand containers in the sale and am sooooo excited.

I should explain that my whole stash to date, has been stored in various shoe boxes and bags.  It took me a long time, but I have managed to fill the containers I have and am sending hubby off to get more today.  It is so nice to be able to see all my bits and bobs so easily, and I look forward to not having to rifle through my stuff saying to my cats “I’m sure I had one of those somewhere…”

That being said, the saying “You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette” is oh so true.  You should have seen my kitchen table (aka work bench)  I took a photo for you to see, although by the time I thought about it, a little bit of order had been restored (not much as you can see)

Wine Glass Rings

There is nothing better than sitting around with friends having a chat, and when I was well, that often used to involve a glass of wine (or two).  These are a great idea, because you know immediately which glass is yours, and that saves a lot of confusion!  Mine is the orange one!

I made these using semi precious stones and a gorgeous moon charm.  I love the bold colours of the stones and I think they reveal a bit of the hippy in me :-p

I really need to learn how to take better photos, but… you get the idea!
